Reclaiming Our Bodies

Guerrilla Group Nude Photo Project, 2025

On the 22nd of February, 2025, a group of women & non-binary people, some of whom have never met before, will meet before sunrise and bare it all at a London secret location as an act of rebellion.

The WHY behind the project

While last year's global project was focused on sexual assault, this year I am flying solo and creating a piece focused on BODY AUTONOMY.

We live in a world where women and non-binary people are being stripped of their bodily rights.

To me, body autonomy means that everyone deserves to exist fully and freely, regardless of their shape, size, colour, gender, age, or ability. Body rights include:

  • The right to make decisions about their own body, including access to safe abortion

  • The right to give and withdraw consent at any time

  • The right to monetise their bodies

  • The right to show skin without being assaulted or shamed

  • The right to wear what makes them comfortable without fear of judgment, harassment, violence or labels

  • The right to be taken seriously when they say, “I know my body,” and to not be gaslighted by doctors

While in 2024 participants were used to collect data on s/a on a global scale, in 2025 I want people to feel empowered to give their experience the meaning that matters most to them.

The fundamental message is "MY BODY, MY CHOICE

Taking part in this project has its risks, and everyone's briefed on them. Nudity is still fairly taboo in the UK, and public nudity is not widely accepted, even when it comes to art or protesting.

My team of volunteers and I worked hard to secure a safe location, before realising that it was very unlikely someone would allow us to capture this project on their land.

I will watch with interest when all these venues are celebrating International Women's Day and shouting about women's rights on all platforms, knowing they wouldn't support a project that empowers women and non-binary people in a less conforming way.

Due to the lack of support, it was decided to go guerrilla again.

Many people, including the President of the United States, do not care about asking for permission before violating and regulating our bodies.

So we will go ahead without asking for permission too.

Whether it's to support body autonomy as a human right, to be part of a piece of art, or even just for fun, every single participant will be empowered by the fact that they are performing their bodily rights freely and conscientiously.

Let's turn the anger into art together. Let's be rebellious.

We won't be silenced.
